New Requirements to Sell Annuities in Wyoming
- Annuity – Best Interest Interest Certification: All producers must complete a 4 credit hour course on the appropriate sales practices, replacement and disclosure requirements under the amended regulation before selling, soliciting or negotiating annuity insurance policies.
- Producers that completed 4 credit hours of annuity suitability training between March 26th, 2014 and July 5th, 2023 need only take a 1 hour credit course on the appropriate sales practices, replacement and disclosure requirements under the amended regulation before selling, soliciting or negotiating insurance policies.
- Producers that have completed the required annuity best interest training after July 5th, 2023 will be in compliance.

State Specific Insurance Continuing Education Courses
- 3 hours must be in ethics.
- An individual may not sell, solicit or negotiate LTC insurance unless the individual is licensed as an insurance producer for Life and Health insurance and completed an 8 hours one-time training course and a 4 hour follow-up training course every 24 months thereafter in order to continue to sell LTC policies.
Wyoming Regulation Chapter 35 – Medicare Supplement Insurance Update
Effective June 4, 2025, Wyoming Insurance Regulation Chapter 35 amended the “Guaranteed Issue Period” to include a “Birthday Rule” for Medicare Supplement policyholders. The additional Guaranteed Issue period starts on the insured’s birthday and ends 63 days thereafter. The insured can select a different plan/carrier as long as the plan has similar or less coverage than the replaced policy, utilizing the Guaranteed Issue status.
The updated regulation as well as a resource sheet showing plan selection options, based on current policy, are located on the Wyoming Department of Insurance website.
This notice is being provided so you can implement procedures in compliance with the new regulation change that went into effect June 4, 2025.

Renewal or Compliance Date for Licensees
- Same as license renewal date. License renews biennially on the producer’s birth month
Types of Insurance Continuing Education Courses Accepted
- Independent self study courses, classroom, or company-sponsored courses (cannot exceed 50% of total requirement).
- The final exam MUST BE taken with a Closed Book.
Monitor Requirements
- Final exams MUST BE monitored by a Disinterested 3rd Party.
Reporting to Your State
- $1.25 per credit hour is required to report to your state.
- State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day. If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.
- CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board electronically.You may also self-report your CFP completions to www.cfp.net
Insurance Continuing Education Carryover Hours & Course Repetition
- Effective Jan 2023, credits earned above the required 24 hours may be carried forward to the next renewal term. The only limitations are that the credits must have been completed within 120 days of the license expiration date, a maximum of 12 credits may be carried forward, and all carry-over credits will only count as “general” education credits.
- Courses may not be repeated within 4 a year period.
Insurance Continuing Education Exemptions
- Individuals holding a limited producers license.
- Individuals licensed for credit life and credit disability.
- Individuals licensed for funeral service contracts.
Method to Certify Completion
- For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam.
- We usually report to the State Department of Insurance or regulatory board by the next business day.
- It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems.

Nonresident
- Producers are exempt.
- Adjusters must meet resident state requirement. If none, adjuster must complete 24 hours biennially including 3 hours of ethics.
