License Status

Insurance Continuing Education Hours Required

  • Producers:  Must complete twenty four (24) hours of continuing education, to include three (3) hours of Ethics and two (2) hours of required Legislative Updates, every two years in conjunction with license renewal. 
  • Adjusters: 24 CE hours of adjuster-specific CE are required biennially
  • Customer Service Reps: 13 CE hours including 3 hours in Ethics are required biennially

New Requirement to Sell Annuities in Oklahoma

  • Producers who have completed the current Department approved “Annuity” training course prior to November 1, 2023, must complete one of the following options within six (6) months after November 1, 2023 (no later than April 30, 2024)
    • A new four (4) credit hour training course approved by the Department. The course group will be identified as “Annuity Best Interest 4 Hours”; or
    • A new one (1) credit hour training course approved by the Department. The course group will be identified as “Annuity Best Interest 1 Hour.

State Specific Insurance Continuing Education Courses

  • Agents may receive credit for courses from any lines of insurance.
    Example: Life/Health agent may take courses from P & C category or vice versa.
  • All licensees except Title producers must complete 3 hours in ethics. All licensees except Adjusters and Customer Service Reps must complete 2 hours in Legislative Updates.
  • All Oklahoma licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies must satisfy the minimum training and education requirement by completing a one-time course related to the NFIP, which may be approved for three hours of continuing education credit by the Oklahoma Insurance Department.
  • An individual may not sell, solicit or negotiate LTC insurance unless the individual is licensed as an insurance producer for Life and Health insurance and completed an 8 hours one-time training course and a 4 hour follow-up training course every 24 months thereafter in order to continue to sell LTC policies. 

Insurance Continuing Education Renewal or Compliance Date for Licensees

  • Last day of the license issuance month, biennially.

  • Independent self study courses or Classroom

Monitor Requirements

  • A disinterested 3rd party affidavit is required to authenticate student identity and verify closed book exam.

Reporting to Your State

  • $1.00 per credit hour is required to report to your state.
  • State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day. If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.
  • CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board electronically.
  • You may also self-report your CFP completions to www.cfp.net

Insurance Continuing Education Carryover Hours & Course Repetition

  • No excess CE credit hours may be carried over to the next renewal period.
  • Credit will not be give for a course that is repeated in a 2 year period.

Insurance Continuing Education Exemptions

  • Limited insurance representatives
  • Agents who are age 65 years of age or older, continuously licensed for at least 30 years, and who no longer write new business.
  • Nonresident agents on a reciprocal basis whose home state’s CE requirements are the same or greater than Oklahoma. 
  • Active membership in a professional organization may be granted up to one (1) hour of CE credit annually.

Method to Certify Completion

  • For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam
  • The Licensee should Submit the Original Certificate(s) of Completion along with their Insurance License Renewal Form, to the Nevada Department of Insurance, prior to their renewal date.
  • It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems.
  • As an added service, we can Rapidly Mail all of your completed courses the same business day (per credit order) for only $25.

Nonresidents

  • Any Non-Resident Oklahoma Adjuster who resides in State requiring Licensing and CE credits may provide a Letter of Certification from their home state in order satisfy the State of OK’s CE Requirements.
  • Any Non-Resident Oklahoma Adjuster that not a resident in a state requiring Licensing and CE may provide a Certificate from another state to satisfy the State of Oklahoma’s CE requirements.
  • Any Non-Resident Oklahoma Adjuster may provide proof of CE from any provider that is approved by the State of Oklahoma in order to satisfy Oklahoma’s CE Requirements.
  • Initial LTC Training: A non-resident producer must complete an initial 8-hour NAIC LTC training course approved by the state of Oklahoma OR complete an 8-hour NAIC LTC course from another state to fulfill  Oklahoma requirements.
  • On-going LTC Requirements: A 4-hour follow-up LTC course is required every 36 months by the end of each renewal period.
