License Status
Louisiana Insurance CE Hours Required
- Life; Accident and Health; or Life, Accident and Health: 24-hours, including 3 hours of ethics, biennially.
- Personal Lines-Property and Casualty: 24-hours, including 3 hours of ethics, biennially.
- *Insurance producers with the lines of property, casualty or personal lines must include 3 hours of education in flood as part of the 24-hour requirement.
- All Lines-L/H and P/C: 24-hours, including 3 hours of ethics, biennially.
- Adjuster: 24-hours, including 3 hours in ethics, biennially.
- Bail Bonds: 12-hours, biennially.
- *Effective with renewals filed on or after August 1, 2020, producers licensed for bail must include six hours on the topic of bail enforcement.
- Title: 12-hours, biennially.
- Producers licensed for title must include two hours on the topic of consumer financial protection as part of the 12-hour requirement.

Louisiana State-Specific Insurance CE Courses
- Annuity – NAIC Annuity Certification: NAIC Annuity Certification: Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating Annuity policies in Louisiana, Producers must complete a one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability Certification Training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuity products in Louisiana.
- A producer who satisfied a similar annuity training requirement for another state will be considered to have satisfied Louisiana’s requirement.

- Long-Term Care Initial Training: Before selling, soliciting or negotiating LTC insurance products in Louisiana, a producer must have completed 8-hours of Louisiana approved initial LTC training.
- Long-Term Care Ongoing Training: A 4-hour follow-up long term care training course must be completed during each two-year period following the two-year period in which the person completed the initial 8-hour long term care training requirement.
- Flood (NFIP) Certification: Property/Casualty and Personal lines producers must complete a 3-hour course on NFIP Flood Insurance Certification Training as part of each 2-year licensing period.
Final Exam Regulations
- Independent self-study courses or classroom.
- Course subjects must be for lines of insurance in which license is held.
- No monitor will be required for online, self-study final exams.
- Online, self-study final exams allow an open book final exam to pass the CE course.
- Licensees must take courses in license type held. If multi-licensed, any course is allowed.
Reporting to Your State/Regulatory Authority
- State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day.
- If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.
- It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems.
- As an added service, we can Rapidly Report your completed courses the same business day for $25 per CE course.
- CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board electronically.

Louisiana Insurance CE Carry-Over Hours & Course Repetition
- Up to 10 excess CE hours may be carried over to the next renewal period.
- L/H up to 6 excess classroom hours and PC up to 10 classroom excess hours.
- You may not receive credit for duplicates of the same course in one renewal period. Be aware of duplicate courses when making choices for your continuing education hours.
Method to Certify Completion
- For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have passed your final exam.
Louisiana Non-Resident Producer Requirements
- Nonresident agents may be exempt if licensee meets home state CE requirement.
- Initial LTC Requirement: A non-resident producer must have completed an initial 8-hour NAIC Long-term care course approved by the state of Louisiana OR complete an 8-hour NAIC LTC course from another state to fulfill Louisiana requirements.
- On-going LTC Requirement: A 4-hour follow-up LTC course is required by the end of each renewal period.
Louisiana Insurance Producer Exemption/Waiver Requests
- Newly licensed agents are exempt for the 1st reporting period
- Individuals holding a limited license.
- A licensee who is 65 years of age and had at least 15 years experience as a licensed agent, broker or solicitor and is either:
- (a) no longer actively engaged in the business of insurance
- (b) engaged in the business of insurance and is appointed by at least one Louisiana licensed insurance company.
- To request this exemption a producer must complete the 65A Exemption Form and return it to the Department.
- This exemption is NOT available for an insurance adjuster in Louisiana.
- PLEASE NOTE: This exemption does not apply to the training required for all producers who sell, solicit or negotiate long-term care insurance products.
