ID Insurance Continuing Education Hours Required

  • 24 hours required biennially

Idaho State-Specific Insurance CE Certifications

  • Annuity Regulation Best Interest Certification – Effective July 1st , 2021:
    • Licensees who have already completed a 4-hour annuity course prior to 7/01/2021 may complete a 1-hour annuity best interest course or complete the new 4-hour annuity best interest course. The 1-hour annuity best-interest course has expired as of 12/31/2021
  • Long-Term Care Initial Certification: Completion of an Initial 8-hour Long-Term Care (LTC) course is required prior to selling, soliciting or negotiating long term care insurance products.
    • A 4-hour follow-up course is required in each subsequent renewal period.

  • Flood (NFIP) Certification: All Idaho licensed resident insurance producers who sell Federal Flood Insurance policies are required to complete a one-time 3 hour course on flood insurance.

Final Exam Regulations

  • Independent self-study courses and classroom study.
  • Self-study final exams are not required to be monitored and open book.

Reporting to Your State/Regulatory Authority

  • $1.00 per credit hour is required to report to your state.
  • State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day.
    • If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.
  • As an added service, we can Rapidly Report your completed courses the same business day for $25 per CE course.
  • CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board electronically.
    • You may also self-report your CFP completions to www.cfp.net

Idaho Insurance CE Carry-Over Hours & CE Course Repetition

  • Carryover hours are not allowed
  • Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in a renewal period.

Method to Certify Completion

  • The certificate of completion will be available to print or download online immediately after you have pass the final exam
  • The DOI or regulatory authority can take up to 30 days to process your new completion results on their systems

Idaho Non-Resident Producer Requirements

  • Initial LTC Requirement: A non-resident producer must  complete eight (8) hours of Idaho approved NAIC Partnership OR complete an 8-hour NAIC LTC course from another state along that will fulfill Idaho’s requirements. 
  • On-going LTC Requirement: A 4-hour follow-up course is required every 24 months. 

Idaho Insurance Producer Exemptions

  • Limited lines producers.
  • Licensees who have applied for and been granted inactive status by the insurance director.
  • Licensees on extended active military duty are exempt for the period of duty.
