License Status

Kansas Insurance CE Hours Required

  • Life/Health & Property/Casualty Licensees:  Beginning on Jan. 1st, 2022 18 CE credit hours, including 3-hour of ethics, are required every 2 year license term. (must complete 3-hours in approved ethics course, all other hours must be completed by taking courses approved only for the line of authority held by licensee).
    • 2-hours biennially for crop insurance and life licensees who sell only pre-need funeral insurance.
  • Title Licensees: 4-hours biennially.

State-Specific Kansas Insurance CE Courses

  • Annuity – Regulation Best Interest: All producers licensed prior to 01/01/2024, who engage in the sale of annuity products in the State of Kansas must complete the one time, 1-hour best interest standard course by 06/30/2024. All producers licensed after 01/01/2024, must complete the one time, 4-hour course which includes the best interest standards before engaging in the sale of annuity products in Kansas.
  • Long-Term Care Initial Certification: 4-hour training course approved for Long-Term Care (LTC) CE credits.
    • In addition to a 4-hour training course, a Kansas producer may take a Kansas approved 8-hour NAIC LTC course, if available, from another state to fulfill Kansas requirements.
    • Check with your carrier, as some carriers make required an 8-hour LTC training requirement.
  • Long-Term Care Ongoing Training: 1-hour training course is required to be completed by the end of each renewal cycle (compliance period).
    • Check with your carrier, as some carriers make required an 8-hour LTC training requirement.
  • Flood (NFIP) Certification: All Kansas resident insurance producers licensed in property and casualty or personal lines of authority that may sell a flood insurance policy must complete a one-time course 3-hour flood course.  These 3-hours are not required in addition to the normal 18-hours for renewal.
  • Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.

Final Exam Regulations

  • Independent self study courses or classroom.
  • Beginning on 7/01/2021, no monitor will be required for online, self-study final exams.
  • Online, self-study final exams must be completed as a closed book final exam with no outside assistance to pass the course.
  • Beginning on 7/01/2021, license renewal dates will change from their birthday to the last day of their birth month, in an even or odd year, depending on whether the producer was born in an even or odd year.

Reporting to Your State/Regulatory Authority

  • $1.00 per credit hour is required to report to your state.
  • State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day.
    • If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.
    • It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems.
  • As an added service, we can Rapidly Report your completed courses the same business day for $25 per CE course.
  • CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board electronically.
    • You may also self-report your CFP completions to www.cfp.net

Alabama Insurance CE Carry-Over Hours & Course Repetition

  • No carryover hours are allowed.
  • Credit will not be given for a course (including those approved to meet the ethics requirement) that is repeated within a 2-year license term.

Method to Certify Completion:

  • For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam.  

Alabama Non-Resident Requirements:

  • Initial LTC Requirement: A non-resident producer must complete an 8-hour Kansas approved NAIC LTC course OR an 8-hour LTC course from another state that will fulfill Kansas’ requirements. 
  • On-going LTC Requirement: A 1-hour follow-up LTC course is required by the end of each renewal period; check with carrier since most require a 4-hour refresher course.

Alabama Insurance Producer Exemptions

  • Individuals licensed less than two years at the time of the compliance date license.
